What is COVID-19 Full Form / COVID-19 stands for

COVID-19 Full Form or COVID-19 stands for are the main questions which everyone want to know in 2020. World Health Organisation have defined this term when they declared this as pandemic.

As per WHO, “CO” stands for Corona, “VI” stands for the virus, ‘D’ stands for disease and “19” is the starting year of this disease, and WHO declared it as pandemic worldwide. Formerly this pandemic is called “2019 novel coronavirus” or “2019-nCoV.” There is a family of viruses which are known as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and this family of viruses normally infects mammals like human, bats and other mammals.
The COVID-19 virus is a new virus but belongs to the same family of viruses as SARS and some types of the common cold.

Common Symptoms of COVID-19?

There are various symptoms of COVID-19 which are observed during this pandemic worldwide. But there are some cases in the world that have no symptoms. The main symptoms of COVID-19 are symptoms of the flue. In rare cases, this disease becomes fatal. So that testing is very much essential to verify that patient infected COVID-19 or not. Some symptoms are given below:

• fever
• cough
• shortness of breath
• In severe cases pneumonia/ breathing difficulties

How does COVID-19 spread? 

There are two main causes of the spread of COVID-19 like air and touching. When an infected person coughs or sneezes its droplets spread in the air and another person will be infected with the same droplets. The other reason is touching when any patient of this disease touches any surface and then some touch that surface then virus transfer to his body and when that person touches his eyes, nose, and mouth the virus will enter his body. Moreover, COVID-19 can survive on the surface for many hours in some studies found that this virus can survive on some surfaces more than a day.

Note: COVID-19 can not enter into the body by skin.

As we know that COVID-19 is the new virus and everyone is just learning about it. But at this stage its found that COVID-19 affects people every day. During studies its found that older people, and people with chronic medical conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes, appear to be more at risk of developing severe symptoms and fatal conditions.  As we know that its a new virus and studies are in progress to know how it affects children. But so far there are relatively few cases of COVID-19 reported among children. So that we need to learn more about how it affects children. We know that this virus can infect people of any age. The virus can be fatal in rare cases, so far mainly among older people with pre-existing medical conditions it affects more.

What is the treatment for COVID-19? 

As we know that this is a new virus so that there is no vaccine for COVID-19 that is currently available in the world. However, many of the symptoms can be treated one by one, and getting early care from a healthcare provider can make the disease less dangerous. Many companies are working to discover their specific treatment. In this regard, there are various clinical trials that are being conducted to evaluate potential treatment for COVID-19 pandemic.

How to Prevent or Slow Down the Spread of COVID-19?

We know that it’s a new virus and its knowledge is very limited to everyone. But we that with other respiratory infections like the flu or the common cold, public health measures are critical to slow the spread of disease. We know that care is better than a cure. So that public health measures are everyday preventive actions that include:

• Staying home when sick
• Covering mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing.
• Dispose of used tissue immediately
• Washing hands often with soap and water
• Cleaning frequently touched surfaces and objects.
